One of the most popular sizes of HDTV being bought is the 32 inch. It seems strange that we still use the Imperial measurements, but that is just the way it is right now! Many buyers are looking for a 32 HD Ready LCD TV. This refers to a TV with a 32 inch screen (when measured diagonally) which is a LCD (liquid crystal display) and comes complete with the ability to play high definition content.
These televisions are in the widescreen or 16:9 format as opposed to an old style 4:3 display. As most content is now created in the widescreen format it makes a lot of sense to own a widescreen HD ready TV to fully enjoy the latest viewing materials. One of the major choices a buyer must make is whether to buy an LCD or a plasma screen. Although now a third choice has emerged and that is the LED display. These new screens are fairly expensive at the present though.
32 HD Ready LCD TV with Freeview
A 32-inch LCD TV with Freeview tuner enables the user to watch a selection of free channels which are made available by the broadcasters. This includes around 50 digital TV channels and 24 radio stations. There is no extra charge. Viewers are only required to pay the usual TV license fee.
An LCD TV with Freeview has this ability built in to the unit and so there is no need to purchase an external Freeview box. If you buy a 32 inch LCD TV with this functionality then you will be able to enjoy many more channels than the standard five channels which are still broadcast with an analogue signal.
An alternative to Freeview is Freesat. This service features over 140 digital channels. The user is required to have satellite dish to use this service, and you can also now buy a 32 widescreen HD ready TV with Freesat. An example is the Panasonic TX-32LZD81 LCD television. It is available for around £640 and is a HD Ready 1080p set which means is plays full HD 1080p content.
32 HD Ready LCD TV with built-in DVD Player
An LCD TV DVD playing unit is an idea that appeals to some shoppers. The DVD player is built in to the HD ready LCD TV and this means you have one less unit to house on your television stand and it also frees up a HDMI socket as you no longer need to connect the DVD player to the television. Having a built in DVD may well mean that the features and the quality of the picture are not so good as a stand alone unit, but for most viewers it should be fine.
A good example of one such model is the LG 32LG400 32-inch widescreen HD ready LCD TV with DVD player. The unit retails for around £560 and it can play images with a high definition picture quality of 720p. This is a good buy for those looking for an all-in-one solution as it features Freeview as well as the DVD player.
Owning a good quality widescreen HD ready LCD makes your viewing really exciting especially if you combine it with a decent home cinema system. You may wish to go for the full 5.1 experience, but a 2.1 system or a Soundbar with subwoofer is also a great choice.
There are three levels of high definition resolution and they are 720p, 1080i and 1080p. An HD Ready TV can play 720p and 1080i and a HD Ready 1080p LCD TV can play all three. The shows currently broadcast in high definition are shown in 720p so an HD Ready television is fine for most general viewing. It also depends on the size of the screen and how far away you sit. For most people viewing HDTV in 720p will be just fine.
Some of the manufacturers 32 HD Ready LCD TV models which you may wish to consider are Sony Bravia LCD TV KDL32, Philips 32PFL, Toshiba Regza 32AV, Sharp LC32, Panasonic TX-L32 and Samsung LE32.
